On-site Training
ISIS offers many different on-site learning opportunities for Nova Scotia immigrants. Through these programs, we provide an introduction to living in Canada, and classes and workshops for immigrants with basic and advanced English needs, as well as classes for those who need English for work or business. Below is a list of all courses offered on-site, in alphabetical order. Please use the menu on the right to narrow your search.
Asthma Aware
January 21, 2012

What is asthma? What is an asthma flare-up? This one day training program will answer these questions and more.
AutoCAD
April 16 -27 , 2012
Monday – Friday
1:30 – 4:30pm
In this class you will develop skills and knowledge to prepare you for working in the AutoCAD environment.
Begin with the Basics

This program will help you increase your basic English communication skills for living in the community.
Build on the Basics
Monday to Friday
8:45-11:45 am, 12:30-2:30 pm
This program will help you increase your vocabulary and develop more complex language structures for broader communication in the community.
Business Skills Development Training
January 19, 2012
This four part (12 week) workshop series will provide you with the information and skills you need to start your business in Nova Scotia.
Design for Non-Designers
February 3 – March 2
Fridays
9-11:30am
This class will teach you how to create small posters, flyers, and brochures. If you can use MS Office and would like to learn how to design with an “edge”, this hands-on workshop is for you!
English for Healthcare Professionals

This program is an inter-disciplinary communication course for health-care professionals. This intensive course focuses on the language skills needed to practice effectively in a Canadian health-care work environment.
English for Work and Business
January 9 – March 30
Monday – Friday
1-4pm
This program is for immigrants who already have some English language skills and want job related language training to help them find a job that fits with their skills and experience, or immigrants who want to start a business.
English for Work and Living

Monday – Thursday, 9-11am
This is a language class for immigrants and citizens born outside Canada who need to develop language skills for work and everyday living.
English in the Workplace
January 9 – March 30
This program is customized to the needs of the employed or self-employed immigrant. Before you begin training, an instructor visits your workplace to meet with you and your employer to test your language learning needs.
Entrepreneur Language Clinics
These language clinics are one-on-one ESL tutorials for entrepreneurs who have a business or are starting a business. Entrepreneurs meet with an ESL instructor for up to ten classes, focusing on the communication skills you need for your business.
Evening Program
Beginning September 6, 2011
Tuesdays and Thursdays
6:30 – 8:30 pm
This language training program is held in the evenings. Instructors decide on the topics by assessing your language needs. The classes focus on oral and written communication skills essential for the community and workplace.
