Practice Interviews

A job interview is an important part of finding work in Canada. Learning about job interviews and practicing your interview skills can greatly increase your chance of success.

A practice interview will help you learn what types of questions may be asked, and you can practice answering those questions. You will learn what employers expect and how to present yourself confidently and professionally. A practice interview also gives you the chance to expand your job search network.

Practice Interviews can be done face to face at ISIS, by telephone or online with Skype.

Process
  • Your practice interview will be based on a job ad you choose. You will need to email the Practice Interview Co-ordinator a copy of your job ad, a targeted cover letter, and a targeted resume.
  • Your practice interview will be 30-45 minutes and will include written and/or verbal feedback from the practice interviewer. The interview is at ISIS at a time that is convenient for you and the interviewer.
  • The interviewers will ask questions based on information on your job ad, resume, and cover letter. They will ask general, behavioral, situational and technical questions.
  • Practice interviewers are Human Resources professionals and/or employers. All practice interviewers volunteer their time.
  • Your practice interview is videotaped or recorded so you can watch or listen to your practice interview and receive additional feedback from your Employment Specialist. All information is confidential.
For more information please contact your Employment Specialist.
