Pre-employment Workshops

New Beginnings and New Beginnings Online

These pre-employment workshops can be taken on-site at ISIS or online, and will help you learn how to look for work in Canada and how to be successful “on-the-job”!

The workshop series includes:

Onsite:

• Pre-Employment Express Workshop – This workshop series will teach you how to job search, prepare for Canadian job interviews, as well as teach you about working in Canada.

Online:

• Job Search – this workshop covers targeting your resume, applying for advertised jobs, discovering the hidden job market, the importance of networking and other important topics.
• Interview Skills – in this workshop, you’ll learn what to expect in a Canadian job interview and  how to prepare. You’ll also have the opportunity to practise your skills!
• Working in Canada – this workshop introduces you to Canadian workplace culture,  employer expectations, and your rights, responsibilities and protections.

New Beginnings workshops are designed to help you build the skills and knowledge you need to find employment in Nova Scotia. They are fun, interactive and directly related to your learning needs as a new job seeker in Canada.  The on-site workshops are held at ISIS and are co-facilitated by an employment expert and a language instructor.

After you complete the Interview Skills Workshop, you will have the opportunity to do a Practice Interview.
