Work Placement Program

Work Placement Program

Do you want to experience working in a Canadian workplace?  Do you need to build a professional network in Nova Scotia?  Do you want to demonstrate your skills and knowledge to a potential employer?

If you have education and/or experience in a particular occupation, and your goal is to work in that field, the Work Placement Program may be for you.

The Work Placement is an (unpaid) 6 week, full-time opportunity to gain experience in your field with a Nova Scotian employer. You will have the chance to explore how your profession is practiced in Canada and to show your qualifications to a potential employer. Although the Work Placement is not paid, there are many benefits:

  • gain Canadian work experience
  • get local references
  • meet professional contacts in your field
  • increase your confidence

The Work Placement Coordinator will help you to find a placement that closely matches your skills.

Your Employment Specialist will help you decide if the Work Placement program is right for you.

Please note: this program is only available to: ISIS clients who are Landed Immigrants with  Permanent Resident status, people protected under the Refugee Act, and Provincial Nominees.
