ISIS offers many different English classes for immigrants in Nova Scotia. These classes can help you learn basic English skills, language skills for the community, and English for work and business.

Find Your English Language Level

ISIS uses the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) to find your language level. CLBs are a national standard and are based on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

• CLB 1-4 – Basic
• CLB 5-8 – Intermediate

Language classes at ISIS go from CLB 1-8. Please go to the English Language Levels page to learn more about the CLBs and your English level.

Early Childhood Education Centre

On-site childcare in the ISIS Early Childhood Education Centre is available for parents who attend some of the language training programs at ISIS. The Centre provides a safe, secure, happy and culturally sensitive environment for children. We accept children from six months to five years of age. The ECE Centre is a vibrant space, with lots of fun and educational toys.

Here they have  creative play and planned activities, where they can:

• have fun
• learn English
• develop independence and life skills
• develop positive self-esteem and self control

All members of our Child Learning Centre staff are caring, qualified, trained and have many years of experience working with immigrant children.
