English for Work
ISIS provides English language classes for immigrants preparing to go into the workplace, and at work for immigrants who are employed. To take the classroom-based English for work, you must first have a language assessment.

Basic Writing Skills Online
November 14 – January 13
This is a eight week introduction to workplace writing. It focuses on grammar, punctuation and spelling and how to write clearly. Learners are able to express their opinions, discuss their ideas, share their experiences, and state facts about workplace situations in well structured paragraphs. Email writing format and etiquette are also introduced.
Clear Speaking Online

This four-week online course offers opportunities to develop and improve your pronunciation. You will work at your own pace and receive individual feedback from the instructor.
Communication for the Workplace (via Videoconferencing)

This is an employment related English language training for professionals from different employment backgrounds. This program is available in Truro, Bridgewater, Kentville, Sydney and Halifax.
English for Healthcare Professionals

This program is an inter-disciplinary communication course for health-care professionals. This intensive course focuses on the language skills needed to practice effectively in a Canadian health-care work environment.
English for Work and Business

This is a language class for immigrants and citizens born outside Canada who need to develop language skills for work and everyday living.
English in the Workplace
January 9 – March 30
This program is customized to the needs of the employed or self-employed immigrant. Before you begin training, an instructor visits your workplace to meet with you and your employer to test your language learning needs.
English in the Workplace Online

This program offers live training customized to the needs of the employed or self-employed immigrant. Training takes place at your workplace using a computer, a web-cam, high-speed internet, and software for shared visuals.
Entrepreneur Language Clinics
These language clinics are one-on-one ESL tutorials for entrepreneurs who have a business or are starting a business. Entrepreneurs meet with an ESL instructor for up to ten classes, focusing on the communication skills you need for your business.
Evening Program

This language training program is held in the evenings. Instructors decide on the topics by assessing your language needs. The classes focus on oral and written communication skills essential for the community and workplace.
Grammar Online
Self directed study
This program has grammar activities that provide opportunities to learn and practice specific grammar topics. There is no instructor for these activities, so you can go at your own speed and repeat them as many times as you wish.
Idioms for the Workplace
Self directed study
This is an online collection of over 200 commonly used workplace idioms and definitions. There is no instructor for this resource, but activities are monitored as you study.

Interpersonal Communication at Work Online

This is a six-week facilitated online course. In this course you will learn language to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues in the workplace.
