Family Support

Family Support and Counselling offers immigrants a wide range of services to support healthy family relationships.

  • Individual and Family Counselling
  • Monthly parent support group for immigrant parents – in partnership with Extra Support for Parents Volunteer Services (ESP) at the IWK Health Centre
  • Women’s Support Group – in partnership with the Bayers Westwood Family Resource Centre
  • Family education workshops:
    • discipline
    • family violence
    • problem solving
    • healthy expressions of emotions
    • stress management
    • change

Your Family Support Counsellor provides support for:

  • disciplining your children
  • understanding Canadian family law
  • solving conflict within the family
  • communicating with children and partners
  • learning to live with change
  • learning to take care of stress
  • family separation

The Family Support and Counselling program also offers presentations and workshops to service providers and works in collaboration with family service organizations in providing services to immigrants on family issues.
