Government of Canada helps newcomers integrate into the labour market.

Today HRSDC announced the launch of the Integrated Pre-Arrival Services Online (IPSO) project in which we are a key partner.  Although we are not identified in the announcement, ISIS will be providing pre-employment and language training online for people who have been accepted as immigrants but have not yet landed.

On December 1, 2009, the Metropolitian Immigrant Settlement Association (MISA), and the Halifax Immigrant Learning Centre (HILC) merged to become ISIS.

MISA through its Immigrant Business Development Services Unit (IBDS) is pleased to announce the launch of the third edition of Everything Ventured Something Gained (EVSG) - Profiles of Immigrant Entrepreneurs.

The official launch event was held downtown at the Halifax Club on March 11. It was attended by the Minister of Immigration, Right Honourable Len Goucher. There were 130 people in attendance, to help celebrate the launch of this magazine.

We wanted to create a publication that shares with the Nova Scotia business community the contributions that immigrants make to our economy.

These are the stories that will make Nova Scotia seem more attractive to newcomers and to people thinking about Nova Scotia as a landing destination in Canada. This edition is particularly inspiring because it list 43 immigrant owned businesses from 30 different countries.
