Immigrant Health Clinic Project

ISIS is working with local health care providers and other stakeholders to develop a model for a local primary care health clinic for government assisted refugees. The model will have two health clinics providing primary care to refugees within their first year in Canada. They will also build a bridging system that supports newcomers transitioning into the local primary health care system. The model is based on collaboration and best practices for immigrant and refugee health care delivery.

There will also be a space for sharing resources about immigrant and refugee health during the project’s development phases.

You can help by:

  • Learning about immigrant and refugee health
  • Learning about the immigrant and refugee experience
  • Sharing your knowledge, resources and experience about immigrant and refugee health
  • Promoting the project with the people around you
  • Providing input as the project unfolds
  • Helping make immigrants and refugees feel they are part of the community
  • As a health care provider you can:
    • become involved in the transition of care in this initiative
    • accept an immigrant or refugee patient into your practice
    • use resources such as interpreter services and the new immigrant and refugee health guidelines to provide better services to immigrants and refugee patients
