Settlement and Integration

The Settlement Unit groups together programs and services that complement each other in providing clients with basic reception and settlement support.

The Settlement and Integration Services include:

The Central Intake and Referral Services are the first point of contact for landed immigrants who contact ISIS by phone, mail or in person and provide basic reception and information.

The Orientation Program delivers series of orientation sessions, to newcomers on relevant information which helps them understand and settle into the new culture. For more information on these series please click here: Legal Services Series Workshops and Income Tax Information Sessions

The Settlement Services provide on going support for GARs (Government Assistant Refugees) and assist other eligible clients to identify and make use of all available resources in the community that will help them settle in the new home.

The Crisis/Outreach Services provide support and information to, and act as a liaison between, service providers and newcomers who need help in overcoming crisis situation. At the same time, promote partnerships and raise awareness of newcomer issues, encouraging service providers to make services responsive to immigrants' needs.

The Health Related Services address immediate needs of GAR clients and all eligible clients in development of healthy every day living practices, as well as, facilitate effective response of health service providers to the needs of newcomers.

The RAP Program is provided for GAR (Government Assisted Refugees) clients within 4 - 6 weeks of their arrival in Canada.

Family Counselling and Parenting Support Program This program offers individual and family counselling, parent support group and workshops on family life. The goal is to support immigrant families in their settlement process, by providing means of empowering them and enhancing their skills in building healthy and violence-free families that are well integrated in their communities.

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

LINC is a program that provides newcomers with English for day to day living. This program is based on different topics and students are accepted on a continuous basis.
