Volunteer and Community Programs
The ISIS Volunteer and Community Programs work with volunteers, community groups, and service providers to increase their understanding of the challenges newcomers face as they adjust to life in Canada.
These programs assist newcomers, community groups and service providing agencies by creating a sense of welcome, providing links to the larger community, and developing needed personal and organizational skills and capacities.
All programs take into consideration needs of newcomers, volunteers, community groups, services providing organizations and other partner organizations.
Volunteering with ISIS :
The first step in the process is to complete an online application profile and to sign up for a General Orientation Session. The next orientation session is:
March 9, 2010, 6:00-8:00 pm
April 13, 2010, 6:00-8:00 pm
May 11, 2010, 6:00- 8:00 pm
All sessions take place at our new office located at 6960 Mumford rd., Suite 2120 (same entrance as Access Nova Scotia, in the West End Mall) . To complete a volunteer application and to register for a session please follow the link below. Please note that only completed applications will be processed so please make sure to fill out all required fields in the application before logging out. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and older to volunteer at ISIS. For those under 18 and enrolled in a high school coop program there may be an opportunity to do a placement at ISIS.
For individuals not able to attend a group orientation session an alternate time and day can be arranged by clicking on ‘Individual Volunteer Orientation Session’ located on the online application page. If you have any questions about the volunteer process please contact Lani Poce at lpoce@isisns.ca or phone 406-8608.
