The following programs are available to newcomers living outside Halifax Regional Municipality.

Employment Counselling
An Employment Specialist can help you to identify your short and long term career goals, and make an individual action plan. Employment Specialists can also assist you to research your field; develop and revise resumes and cover letters; determine the pathway to licensure in your field or profession; and learn more about and practice job search and interview skills.

Online Language Training
ISIS is developing online language programs to support the needs of newcomers who aren't able to attend face to face classes. With more and more newcomers working and living in areas outside the Halifax Regional Municipality, there is an increasing need for language support delivered in alternative ways.

Videoconference Language Training
English for Work and Business is a language training program for newcomers to Canada. It provides business and employment related English language training for professionals from different employment backgrounds. The program focuses on oral and written communication skills vital for the workplace.

New Beginnings Online
A Distance Education Program to Facilitate the Labour Market Integration of Newcomers in Small Centers and Rural Communities in Nova Scotia. New Beginnings Online is a pre-employment learning opportunity for newcomers to Canada.  New Beginnings Online is designed to build job search skills, interview skills and assist newcomers overcome the barriers related to accessing employment opportunities in Nova Scotia.

Professional Mentor Program
The Mentoring Program links practicing or recently retired professionals and skilled immigrants in the same occupation, and provides a valuable learning opportunity for those involved

Work Placement Program
The six-week, full-time unpaid work placement provides an opportunity to gain Canadian work experience, local references and contacts, and the chance to demonstrate skills to a Nova Scotian employer.

English in the Workplace
English in the Workplace (EWP) is an English language training program for newcomers who have a job or who have their own business. An instructor can work with employed newcomers who live outside Halifax Regional Municipality using a computer and the internet.

ISIS is pleased to offer the Step 1: Introduction to Business Start-up Online Workshop each month for immigrants who want to start a business in Nova Scotia.
